All UUP represented employees are required to complete the Waiver of Holiday Pay Form by August 15, 2019.
If you are required to work during your regular working hours on any day observed by the State as a holiday, you will be given the option to receive payment of money as compensation. In 2019 this covers Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.
After the July 1 to August 15, 2019 option period, an employee shall have the opportunity to file a waiver if the employee has not already done so, or revoke their previous waiver, by notifying the appropriate campus payroll office in writing between April 1 and May 15 in each year of the Agreement thereafter.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact Payroll Services at (315) 464-4840 or timekeep@upstate.edu
The new UUP Family Leave and Work-Life Services Guide is posted on the UUP website.
UUP’s 2016-22 contract with NYS contains new family leave provisions, providing members with many options for fully paid, partially paid, and unpaid leave for family care. It covers leave for birth, adoption, foster care placement, sickrelative care (including elders), the death of family members, and assisting family members on active military duty.
The Guide also includes information about the following:•UUP’s newly negotiated “tenure” clock stop provisions for Professionals and Academics following birth, adoption, or foster care placement;•NYS Work-Life Services programs negotiated by UUP;•Possibilities for flexible work arrangements;•Support services and member benefits programs provided by UUP and our affiliates (New York State United Teachers, American Federation of Teachers, National Education Association).
UUP has begun conducting Family Leave Workshops at our chapters and will continue to work with chapter leaders to provide information and assistance to our members across the state.
In Solidarity,
Fred Kowal, UUP Statewide President
