If you have been counseled or received a non-renewal for a job title it is important to contact the UUP office to tell us. We can help represent you in looking at the correct course of action. Don’t delay, you have 10 days after your non-renewal to contact us or it may be too late to for us to help.

Did you know that UUP has a State Wide Veteran’s Affairs Committee which meets regularly at the Delegates Assemblies?
There is grant money available as part of the NYS/UUP Contract and it’s available to all UUP represented employees. Awards are given in six different categories, ranging from professional development (such as the Individual Development Awards) to Affirmative Action (the Dresher Leave Program) to large project and/or multi-campus grants, otherwise known as the Campus Grants program.

UUP Upstate Chapter Secretary (Elected)
September 15, 2015
As we enter our last year of the current contract, we are heading into another round of contract negotiations. This can be a long and drawn out process, sometimes taking several years. A team of very competent individuals has been assembled to take on the charge of writing our next contract.
UUP is the exclusive bargaining unit between the New York State Executive Branch (Governor’s Office) and those serving as New York State public employees with a 26P job title.
Some of you who have never been union before may not be aware that this is precisely where your 1% of your salary goes. It goes to pay for the ability for the union to conduct daily business, listen to members’ concerns, enforce the agreement between NYS and UUP, and ultimately bring these concerns to the negotiations table at time of the contract renewal.
Kowal, union leaders dismayed by Friedrichs review
UUP President Fred Kowal joined union leaders nationwide in decrying the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to hear Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association, a case that could weaken public sector unions by denying them the ability to collect fees from workers who reject union representation.
This year’s annual meeting was a huge success. Thank you all for attending. We served well over 300 people at the picnic. Jeff Hamlin (IMT) took lots of pictures for us. Click here to view them on Picasa.
